Creepy Eyes

Creepy Eyes

My son wanted to be a spider for Halloween. So I 3d printed some LED lit eyes. I modeled them in Fusion 360 and printed them using my dual extruder MakerGear M2. The eye can be lit with a 3mm LED and a watch battery, no other electronics needed. I liked them so much I made a creepier version for myself. The base can be sewn to fabric using the recesses in the base. The base was dual extruded 3d printed with black ABS and HIPS as a support material which was later dissolved away. I uploaded the models to Thingiverse.

CR1620 watch battery and 5mm LED needed for lighting

Eye models and Iris can be dual extruded or printed separately and attached later.

Base should work with breakaway support as well but may require some sanding as its a tight fit.

Videos on Printing setup and assembly.

Part 1 on Printing dual extruder with 2 color print and HIPS dissolvable supports: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk2_TIXIUes

Part 2 on Assembly and finished product: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0quhL1RP7k

Part 3 finishing with XTC-3d and paint https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpVQmcQ8rq8&t=18s

Smooth On XTC-3d coating for smoothing 3d prints http://amzn.to/2fncO0m

Duplicolor Scratch Fix All-In-One- Bright Red http://amzn.to/2eEcysa

Duplicolor Scratch Fix All-In-One- Black http://amzn.to/2eMEnlz

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

MakerGear

Printer:

M2

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Category: Costume
