The 3D model depicts a large, sturdy basket worn on the back to carry fish, typically crafted from larch or willow branches. A resourceful fishwife would utilize this basket to sell fish to nearby residents or barter for fresh dairy products. This artifact dates back to the early 20th century and is now housed at the Timespan Museum, where it remains part of the Helmsdale Fishing Village reconstruction. This collaborative project brought together Open Virtual Worlds, a research team within the School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews, and the Timespan Museum. Catherine Cassidy and Iain Oliver led the 3D digitization efforts, while Jacquie Aitken provided archaeological expertise. Funding for this initiative was generously provided by the EU Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme 2014-2020 through the "Connected Culture and Natural Heritage in a Northern Environment" (CINE) project.
