I have tried many different mounts and hot-ends on my ELF since I bought it a couple of years ago, but my ELF prints best with this entire set-up. The E3D Mount and BMG/Pancake motor mount all line up perfectly for a close-as-you-can-get direct-drive setup on the ELF. I included a Hot-end cable strain relief and a BLTouch mount, which I also use on my ELF. Very important that you use this new Y endstop mount or it won't home properly. Also the Bowden tube needs to be exactly 67mm long to fit between the hot-end and the BMG. If you want the best prints out of your ELF, use these mounts with a genuine E3D-V6 hot-end, and a genuine Bondtech BMG extruder, and a genuine Bondtech Pancake motor. (The clones will come a close second in print quality.) My retraction lengths are all 0.50mm or 0.60mm long with this set-up, at speeds of 60mm/s. (distance depends on type and brand of filament). For the best quality prints my default printing speed is 50mm/s, with the first layer 25mm/s. Note: Print quality also depends on how well your printer is calibrated.
