Creative Live! Webcam Holder for Prusa i3 MK2/MK2S
thingiverse
This is a Y-axis portrait mode camera housing for the Creative Live! Cam Sync HD webcam. It replaces the stock housing and turns the camera 90° so it works in portrait mode. This camera has a narrow field of view, making portrait mode necessary to fit a taller print into the picture. It fits the MK2 heatbed frame, but I'm not sure if it will fit the MK3 - someone should try it and report back. ***UPDATE:*** Don't print the holder bracket in PLA if you're printing with high bed temperatures! I print PC at 110°C regularly, and the bracket has started to droop. I'll reprint with PC, but ABS or PETG might work too. **Non-printable parts:** M3 screw and square nut. Check your spares bag for them. **Re-use and remix:** The holder bracket can easily be used for other designs - it takes anything with a 12 mm diameter ball. **Camera housing assembly:** Thankfully, the Creative camera is assembled with screws, so you can disassemble it without causing any damage. Just carefully remove the board, pull out the cable connector, and take out the rubber grommet. Slide the board into the printed housing as shown in the picture. There's an opening at the back to make connecting the cable easier. Lastly, push the cable grommet into the hole. If it's tight, push one of the bumps on the grommet through the keyhole slit, turn 180°, push the other one through, and then turn back 90° to keep it in place. **Installation:** Start by connecting the housing to the holder - this is easier before attaching the holder. For tightening the ball joint, use an M3 screw (12-30 mm long), and an M3 square nut. You should have both of these in your spares bag if you've assembled your printer from a kit. Installation is very easy: just unscrew the corner heat bed attachment screw, slide the bracket onto the be frame, and reattach the screw. Route the USB cable so it won't snag or hinder Y-axis movement - there are probably many ways to do this, see the last picture for a suggested solution. **Important:** Tilt the camera so that it's clear from the extruder motor. Push the heatbed all the way back and the X-axis all the way to the right. Then move the Z-axis downward and check that it doesn't touch the camera. **Credits:** This is basically a remix - I designed it from scratch, but the idea came from PrintCentral's design. Thanks PrintCentral! ### Please post a Make if you make this!
