Brass nozzles wear out and have to be replaced. If one is cheap, one can try to fix used nozzles so that they can be used a bit longer. One can not correct all problems, but it is possible to use this 3D-printed jig to flatten the front and rear of the nozzles. If done properly the results should be better than factory standard.I made a jig that fits the volcano nozzles that Creality uses in a few of their printers. The original volano nozzles are a bit wider at the front. I do not have any of these, so someone else can adapt the model (I have appended the FreeCAD model).Print the jig in PLA. This material is hard and tough, which is perfect for anything that will be riding on top of a grinding surface. Please note that the jig is very tight. This is on purpose. The nozzle needs to sit tight for a perfect end result. The idea is to use something that will not damage the nozzle to ram it into the jig. I use a piece of wood. I then use a chopstick to ram it back out. This creates a perfect fit. With the nozzle in place and somewhat moveable, you sharpen each side of it against a whetstone or a very fine grained sandpaper. I end with grit 3000 - 6000 Apply a light touch on the top of the nozzle and grind away gently. Please note that brass is soft. You do not need to grind for long to achieve a good result. This procedure creates perfectly flat surfaces. The process should work on hardened steel nozzles, but not on plated nozzles. You do not want to grind through the plating. Before I install the nozzles I polish the inside with some metallic polish on toothpicks. Not sure if this is necessary, but it can not hurt. I also polish the small hole at the front with a clearing needle and some metal polish. When the nozzles are so worn that the front hole is no longer round, the nozzle is done and no matter of restoration will revive it. I assume that one could drill out the hole to a higher dimension, but I do not own good enough drills for this.
