Creality Ender-4 heatbed holder strengthening
thingiverse
This part was engineered to minimize heatbed vibrations by enhancing the overall torsional strength of the bed holder. The Z-axis space will not be compromised since it simply wraps around the bearings. The part is positioned atop the Z-axis bearings and secured in place with bearing screws. The Z-axis space remains unchanged as it merely envelops the bearings. Interconnection between parts is facilitated via M5 screws. At the bearing end, M5 screws can be inserted and tightened against the Z-axis bearing, while M5 screws and nuts are inserted vertically into corresponding holes to increase tension on the heatbed holder. To enhance the bed's stability, you can A) adjust tightness using the screws or B) attach multiple layers of duct tape between the heatbed holder and stiffeners. Additionally, ensure that the Z-axis adjustment screws are tightened almost completely, leaving only a small margin for fine-tuning, which significantly reduces heatbed oscillations. The screw holes were intentionally designed to be slightly too tight, allowing for easy post-processing enlargement via drilling. Despite initial expectations, testing revealed that this design did not effectively minimize heatbed oscillations. A static test was conducted by placing a heavy object (1382g) on the heatbed and measuring deflection without (47.08mm - 45.99mm = 1.09mm) and with bed stiffeners attached (48.49mm - 47.53mm = 0.96mm). Interestingly, the heatbed now appears to be very rigid. Further investigation suggests that the Z coupler and Z-axis motor holder may be contributing to the heatbed's flexibility.
