Creality Ender 3 Spool Holder
thingiverse
I found the original Ender 3 spool holder too short and too thin for most of my filament spools. All filaments I use have a 50mm diameter hole and a width of just over 100mm. So those spools run with more friction and are worse secured because they don't lie flat on the holder. Therefore, I designed a simple replacement that works much better for me than the original arm. You attach it directly to the metal part of the original holder and you're done. It's not a geared holder but a sliding one. I discovered that a bigger diameter of this holder works better and I'm not sure if a geared holder would be any good either. I believe that filament guide friction is much more important due to quick retraction movements. The spool friction doesn't count for much when the filament is pushed into the extruder. And the design is extremely simple.
