Creality Ender 2 - MKS Gen 1.4 + Raspberry Pi case
thingiverse
I prefer the Ender 2, but the noise level when printing is a major annoyance. That's why I upgraded to a new control board (MKS Gen 1.4) as well as TMC 2100 stepper drivers. For this upgrade, I designed a custom case that houses the MKS board, a Raspberry Pi 3, a DC-DC step-down converter and an 80mm fan. The housing consists of a base plate attached to the Ender with existing holes. The 80mm fan is seamlessly integrated into the design. The upper parts of the housing (MKS_Top_Case.stl and Raspberry_Top_Case.stl) snap onto the base plate without screws. You can either use the included display or the RepRapDiscount Full Graphic Smart Controller. The design for the RepRap display is a creative remix of tom666's original work. The overhanging baseplate is not a concern, however, the larger 3D printed wheel for adjusting the heated bed still fits, keeping the Ender 2 compact and quiet. All parts, except for MKS_Top_Case.stl, can be printed without support and are properly oriented for printing. Enjoy your upgraded printer!
