If you're dissatisfied with the stock spool shaft's excessive friction, which becomes more pronounced over time as the spools wear down against the shaft, a replacement is an excellent solution. I've experimented with various spool holders from Thingiverse, but I found that they don't accommodate different spool sizes. Some spools have flat inner holes, while others feature grooves or sharp edges, making it impossible to use ball-bearing spool holders across all my spools. This replacement spool shaft addresses the issue of friction by incorporating ball bearings and a cylindrical design that rotates freely around its axis. As a result, it can accommodate any spool with a 40mm hole or larger and a maximum width of 100mm. To assemble this spool shaft, you'll need four ball bearings with specific dimensions: 13mm in diameter, 5mm holes, and 4mm wide.
