Hendrik72's spool holder looked like the best option for me, but I knew not everyone had fidget spinners with extra 608 bearings lying around. Besides, I've always wanted to print my own bearings and see how they would perform. I also wanted to make the width of the holders adjustable, with a threaded locking mechanism that would allow for precise adjustments. Credit goes to emmet's gear bearing design on Thingiverse, which inspired me to create this project. If you're having trouble getting your bearings to fit, feel free to customize the design and print thinner bearings using the customizer tool. To complete this project, you'll need a few parts: a front holder, a back holder, an adjustment screw with knob, four bearing locks, and four bearings. You can print the holders either standing upright or lying on their side – I did both and was pleased with the results. One tip is to use manual support placement when printing the holders, especially if you're laying them on their side. Cleaning out the gap for the bearings can be a real pain. There's also a 6mm Allen bit included in the design, which makes it easy to drill out the bearings and get them loose and smooth. And trust me, it's much easier with a drill!
