Crawling Lizard V2
thingiverse
Another fantastic project from thinkpool. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1416128 My goal was to get the lizard to move ahead, and I achieved it by getting the final version to roll 13 inches forward with modest rubber band tension on the wheel+tire combo. The lizard can even do a wheelie if you want to taunt it. The team made several versions of the lizard: * Green: stock arbor wheel, centering hole in button, and under mount rubber band. * Red: full arbor wheel, nostrils, and removed rubber band under mount. * Gold: full arbor wheel, top mount rubber band, rubber band tire, tongue, and upper mouth. To get the tire to work, you need to hold down the installed back wheel on a flat surface and apply heat (a match) to each leg until they relax and cool. Then, install the tire. You can clean out 1.75 filament alignment holes with a 5/64 drill bit and the axle hole in the back with a small rotary bit. To print the wheels, you need to slow down the print speed at the wheel axle and legs. The wheels have been sliced for no support printing.
