Crater Lake (1 arc-second)

thingiverse

Crater Lake in Oregon constructed meticulously from high-definition 1 arcsecond resolution SRTM data captured by the Space Shuttle, comprising an astonishing 3.2 million precision-crafted polygons. This highly detailed model was created using a state-of-the-art and unreleased version of SRTM2STL software. The source code for generating files at 3 arcsecond resolution is freely available on github, released under the liberating GNU license. To access the SRTM2STL software, simply visit github and search for its name. Instructions: Printing these models to a small size may be advisable, as excessive warping has been encountered using PLA materials, especially when attempting to print large Raised Relief Maps. However, 'some' success has been achieved with bigger maps, and users who have discovered effective ways to control warping may experience better results even with larger prints.
