Cranky Crane Handle

Cranky Crane Handle

thingiverse

My kids broke one of the handles on their Thomas and Friends Cranky toy. This is my attempt at printing a replacement. The handle wobbles a bit, but I'm going to fix this by deepening the socket inside the handle at a later date. The best print result I've seen is printing it as with the orientation in the S3D screenshot I provided. Printed on its side, with supports and a raft, provides correct layer orientation so that the crank won't potentially break off inside of the toy. I printed at 0.12mm layer height, 3 perimeters, 5 layers top and bottom, 20% infill. I thought that gave a good balance between appearance, strength, and material usage.
