Crankshaft
grabcad
The crankshaft, often shortened to 'crank,' transforms linear piston movement into rotation within an engine. It accomplishes this by featuring 'crank throws' or 'crankpins', which are additional bearing surfaces with axes offset from the main shaft. These pins connect to the 'big ends' of connecting rods from each cylinder, converting reciprocating motion into rotational movement.
