Crank Handle for Ikea LJUSA torch

Ikea Ljusa [yoo:sa], which means bright in swedish (adjective of bright) has an annoying crank handle without rotating crank knob. The handle is just one peace of molded plastic!

Ljusa is a flashlight with hand crank generator (step motor) and with super capacitors as a storage of energy.

When you try to crank this torch light you immediately realize how uncomfortable it is due to lack of handle free rotating knob.

How to take apart your torch, can be find by help of Google or Youtube.

To get the crank handle assembled, you need to print three different details. The Crank Knob does not need any support material, but other two need it.

After details are printed, you need to remove and clean all support material. Use a magnifying glass, sharp scalpel and pliers. Assemble all three details as my picutres show. You may secure crank shaft in place with a few drops of quick adhesive (cyanoacrylate adhesive), but it is not necessary. The crank knob has to rotate freely on crank shaft as it does on my prints.

Now assemble the complete torch together with removed cover, adding new crank handle.

You will feel how easy it is to wind the torch now.
