Crank Arm
thingiverse
This self-designed crank arm bears a striking resemblance to those found in avionics. Model "NEW2.stl" features larger rings with a +2 mm diameter for a more solid appearance, a design I prefer over the original. I was inspired by an innovative avionic desk lamp on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:319339). However, I felt that the legs of this lamp lacked the flair of its main stand, prompting me to create a revised design. With expertise in Rhino software, I crafted this new design from scratch, but be warned, it may not function properly due to my lack of experience with CAD software. A notable feature is the large hole designed to mate with a compatible nut (currently a work-in-progress). The front leg was also redesigned; view its detailed model at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1167238. For further inspiration, browse these alternative crank arm designs on GrabCAD https://grabcad.com/library/crank-arm--1 or https://grabcad.com/library/crank-arm--3. **Printing Settings:** - Printer: Flashforge 3D Dreamer - Rafts: Yes - Supports: Yes - Resolution: 0.2 mm - Infill: 20% Line I wanted to replicate the appearance of real aluminum by painting the grey body a shiny, polished silver. For aesthetic consistency, I divided the model into three parts: * Bottom and top components are each 1 mm thick. * Top and bottom layers are printed in white with matching rafts. * The middle part is printed in silver-grey along with its supports.
