Crane Arm
thingiverse
I'm building an arm for a homemade operating crane that's going to be roughly three feet tall when finished. You'll need three of these arms to make up the boom of the crane, which is a derrick crane modeled after old Unit cranes from the 1950s. The arm itself is quite generic, though. I've scaled the holes on the connection points to fit a piece of 1.75mm filament. Eventually, everything will be motorized and controlled with a small controller, making it great for training in hand signals and crane safety. This printer was used at 20% infill with PLA. You can't use tree supports once the supports are more than two inches tall, so you'll need to use wall supports and print flat – that works fairly well. When I get the rest of the pieces designed and uploaded, I'll add the links here. The end piece is already available: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3921644
