Crane

Crane

thingiverse

This is a project that my kids and I worked on during the school holidays. We designed it, printed it, and came up with our own unique interpretation of all the cranes we see in our local area building multi-story units where there used to be old period homes. I've included the original 123 design file and STLs for you to take a closer look at. I cleaned them up and reduced the number of STLs, making it easier to print on a standard 250mm x 250mm bed. A little filing and sanding may be necessary to get a neat fit on all the parts. In our example, we only glued on one part - the pin that holds the base to the tower. We used three-millimeter magnets on the hook so my kids could easily swap them out whenever they want. You'll notice in our example that we included eight segments in the base, but I've only included one in the STLs. Our finished model stands an impressive 1000 millimeters tall from the top of the boom, as you can see in the photos.
