
Cramond Lioness

In 1997, Edinburgh resident Robert Graham pulled a sandstone sculpture from the muddy waters of the River Almond, in Cramond. This discovery would turn out to be one of the most significant Roman finds in decades. The sculpture was acquired by both National Museums Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council with assistance from the National Art Collections Fund (now known as the Art Fund).
