CraftBot Top Mount Filament Spool Holder
thingiverse
A 3D printable spool holder that's top-mountable makes removing the need for a PTFE tube a snap while reducing friction drastically (essential for high-friction filament, like wood-composite). This design enables holding spools up to 8 inches (20cm) in diameter and up to 4 inches (11cm) wide, as well as either a 2 inch (5cm) or 1 inch (3mm) inner hole diameter with ease. The spool is secured into place with easy-release clips which facilitate quick swapping between spools and between the 5cm and 3cm spool hole types effortlessly. For effortless release, insert the clips into the base first, then bend down the protruding clips fully before attaching the spool holder on top. This simplifies releasing the top part considerably. This print requires mounting with 2 to 3 M3X20mm or 25mm screws securely to the body of the Craftbot. If printing one holder, center back is the ideal spot for attachment with an extra screw hole adding sturdiness. However, it does allow up to 8 spool mounts to be attached simultaneously (2 per side), still leaving room for USB drive access. Instructions: Print 1 base and 2 clips along with as many spool holder types as required. Mount securely with M3X20mm or M3x25mm screws to the top of the bot, replacing existing ones.
