CR6 SE LGX and BMG DD MGN12H linear Rail conversion
thingiverse
Hi, this is my remix of Michael Bourque's BRDD design to accomodate a linear rail upgrade for LGX and BMG . I'll include links to all the parts I used in the description and in the comments and I'll add a written tutorial below. Keep in mind this is still a work in progress, you will loose a couple of mm in print space and drilling into the x axis aluminum extrusion is required. You'll need these - [M3 tap and drill bit that is a bit smaller](https://www.amazon.com/Rocaris-Adjustable-T-Handle-Ratchet-Thread/dp/B0736T5NM6/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2LIO9BIVDH2KH&keywords=m3+tap&qid=1641840075&sprefix=m3+tap%2Caps%2C64&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExNzU3TkdJRE9ZQU45JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjgxMjY2MkIxUDc4M1JIUDZHViZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjcyMjA2MzExQlZVMDJEQUdWMCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=) - [350 MM MGN12H Linear rail](https://www.amazon.com/Twotrees-Bearing-Printer-Engraving-Machine/dp/B088WJ4JZC/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=350mm+mgn12h&qid=1641840114&sprefix=350+mm+mgn12%2Caps%2C62&sr=8-3) - [Metric Flat Head Hex Screw Set](https://www.amazon.com/HELIFOUNER-Pieces-Countersunk-Washers-Assortment/dp/B08LKTJF2K/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2EM9TFGHWPVGI&keywords=M2+M3+M4+M5+flat+head&qid=1641840032&sprefix=m2+m3+m4+m5+flat+head%2Caps%2C53&sr=8-2) - [Metric Hex Cap Screw Set](https://www.amazon.com/Washers-1200PCS-Sutemribor-Assortment-Wrenches/dp/B07H4MG7TC/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=m3+screw+assortment&qid=1641839605&sprefix=m3+sc%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-3) - [GT2 Belt](https://www.amazon.com/HICTOP-Meters-pitch-Timing-printer/dp/B00YMM6IQW/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=gt2+belt&qid=1641840146&sprefix=gt2+%2Caps%2C71&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyQzVNTkswNEpJVzc1JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzE1MDQ3MVZPSDNJV0dXNFNJMyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMTEwMDkzMjQ0SzNSWDdHTE03NiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=) - [LGX extruder](https://www.bondtech.se/product/lgx-large-gears-extruder/) - [BMG extruder](https://www.bondtech.se/product/bmg-extruder/) Installation Guide (This was quickly done, if there's any question, i'll answer them in the comments as quick as possible): 1. Print all the parts 2. Remove the Hotend carriage and the OEM Belt 3. Remove all the wheels from the carriage 4. Screw printed mount to the MGN12H block using flat head screws 5. Strip the metal plate from all of its component (Hotend, daughter board, etc) and install it on the printed parts. 6. Use the hex screws and nut to secure backplate to the printed parts (Same size as the bolts used to hold the wheels) 7. Use the rail centering tool (print at least 2, 3 would be better) to center and hold the rail against the X axis aluminum extrusion 8. Use the holes on the extrusion as guide to drill through your extrusion. Use a drill bit that is a smidge smalle than the M3 tapp to make a hole. 9. Thread the hole with the tap, clean the hole, then screw an M3 screw into it. Repeat 3 times at least (One on either end and one in the centre. I did 4 holes, but it's up to you) 10. Install the belt Holder on the back of the metal backplate 11. Use new gt2 belt holder and install it on the x axis 12. Install the new carriage by sliding the mgn12h block on the linear rail 13. Secure the GT2 belt to the belt holder. 14. Install the x limit switch spacer (see pictures) 15. Reinstall everything on the metal plate (hotend daughterboard etc) 16. Install your direct drive extruder following either of the wonderful guide Micheal wrote [LGX](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4868140) [BMG](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4837410) Installation is basically done at this point. You'll need to add some sort of spacer on the screw that triggers the Y limit switch under the bed to add some lenght so it triggers a bit before reaching the end because the mount add some lenght on the Y axis. HUGE thank you to Michael Bourque for lending me his design. It is really good and if you want the same design for your printer without linear rail, go take a look at his design! Changelog: 1.1 : Fixed hex nut holes for mounting to the metal bracket
