Designed a custom aluminum Linear Rail template to fabricate from, then printed it in PETG out of curiosity about its weight and strength compared to the original steel Y carriage. The result is solid enough, with a slight springiness to the front and back reminiscent of bed springs. Print quality appears superior, and using this part shaved off approximately 400 grams from the Y carriage's weight. Printed with Generic PETG filament using the following settings: a 1mm nozzle, 1.2 extrusion width, .32 layer height, 15% infill, and 120% infill width. Plan to print the bed mounts and Y carriage bracket in PETG/ABS for added durability. The other parts can be printed with PLA if necessary. Having used PETG solid bed mounts for over a year without issues, it's unlikely heat will be a problem here.
