Cr10s Pro V2 Filament Guide
thingiverse
Parts Required: 2 x M4 x 12 bolts, 2 x pieces of metal tube:- 1 x approx. 3mm dia x 32mm + 1 x approx. 4mm dia x 20mm. (Two piece spindle, one fits inside other). These could be replaced by a single shaft, metal or plastic. I know there are a myriad of these already available but i couldnt find one that i liked that had good comments. I have been using the guide for the past 3 days and so far its doing a great job. It was fitted near the end of my first spool and it no longer looks like a slinky going into the extruder. I will update after a week and again after a month (or immediately if it fails!) I think its only fair to let you know I had been 3d printing for just 3 days when i completed this and its only my second ever 3d design (Tinkercad). Mounted under the spool holder (replace the two m4 x 8mm bolts with m4 x 12). The arm is 240mm long. Went with a closed end as ones available with a slot had problems with snagging or the filament escaping. The underside has two 1mm deep reliefs to clear the two bolt heads holding the printer top rail to the left upright. The two mounting holes will need a 4mm drill passed through. The two holes for the roller spindle are just under 3mm and need reaming for a tight fit on the thinner tube. The arm also acts as a dust cover over the z axis screw top mount. The roller is slightly oversized to be sanded for a good fit. The spindle hole is slightly under 4mm and needs reaming for a tight fit. If both the spindle tubes are a tight fit into their corresponding plastic parts, no glue is necessary, and if the roller is a good fit along with nice tube to tube fitment then it shouldnt wear, jam or rattle. I printed the arm with supports on (only because i forgot to turn it off!), not that it should matter and the roller was printed with supports off. Print times where approx. 3hrs 30 and 25 minutes at 30% infill using Cura. Any thoughts or comments greatly appreciated. Any questions answered. :) Update:- 1 week, printing every day and still working well. Update:- 1 month and a few rolls, all still working well. If i were to change anything it would be to reduce the gap between roller and the end of the arm. I gave enough room so that the filament wouldnt rub on the end of the arm on retractions but it was not needed as the filament does not leave the roller.
