Here are some designs I've remixed from others to address filament feed issues and a potential problem that I believe is present. The filament sensor is actually only useful for one thing: allowing for easy color changes in the middle of a print. It also provides a better way to access the filament between the original housing and the extruder's feed hole, which can be beneficial for some users. However, it may not work well for others. Here are some photos of this design installed on my machine with the filament sensor limit switch disconnected. You don't have to make any changes, but disconnecting it will allow the system to ignore it completely if you prefer. If you want to use it as a filament change switch instead, simply connect the wiring like stock and secure the switch with tape. When you're ready to change filament or colors, remove the tape and let the switch activate; the printer will enter filament change mode, allowing you to swap out filaments before re-engaging the switch and covering it with tape again. This works great for multi-color printing. I hope this helps, and don't forget that you'll need the roller and pin from another link I provided. Thanks.
