UPDATE 1/28/20 I've upgraded the lower unit with larger air pathways and reinforced walls. Additionally, I added an alternate upper unit featuring a bowden tube support clamp for the Microswiss hot end. This was necessary because the collet that holds onto the tube would wear down over time due to constant movement while printing. The new clamp system utilizes a M5 x 10mm bolt and is designed to provide additional support without over-tightening. ORIGINAL POST I wasn't impressed with any of the cooling modifications I found online. Most required fan replacements, sensor adjustments, or both. My design uses stock fans and works seamlessly with BLTouch sensors. It may not be compatible with the standard sensor, but that hasn't been tested yet. The unit also reuses M3 bolts from the metal housing. A notable aspect is that this design was created around Microswiss all-metal hot ends, but it should work just as well with the stock version. There's minimal size difference between the two options. Weight reduction has been significant: the removed parts weighed 80 grams, while the new components weigh only 20 grams, resulting in a substantial 75% reduction. To print these models, orient them accordingly and use support to build on the plate. I added support blockers for most of the lower unit overhangs where the blower fan mounts. This was unnecessary due to the 45-degree angle design, but it's there nonetheless. Additionally, I included a blocker on the front overhang just below the cool end fan mounting location. The Upper and Side units were printed at .2 layer height with 100% infill for added sturdiness. The Lower unit was printed with 20% infill and a finer layer height of .16 to accommodate its complex design features. Required Materials: * 2 M3 x 16mm bolts * 2 M3 x 14mm Bolts * 2 M3 Nuts The lower piece attaches to the bottom of the cool end fan using 2 M3 x 14mm bolts. I designed the holes in the lower piece to thread directly into the ABS without needing to be tapped. To assemble the unit, start by attaching the blower fan to the lower unit using the three stock bolts. Be sure to use the longer bolt on one of the upper holes so it doesn't interfere with the side support bracket. The Upper piece attaches to the red carriage plate using a stock M3 bolt from the metal housing. You'll need to remove the filament tube to install it. Additionally, you'll require 2 M3 x 16mm bolts and nuts to attach the cool end fan to the upper piece. Finally, the side support uses leftover bolts from removing the cool end fan from the metal housing and threads directly into the ABS like the two lower holes connecting the cool end fan to the lower unit.
