CR10'ish Toolhead on Rails for Orbiter2 and RapidoAs my old CR10 bowden printhead broke away it was time to replace it with something that can print with more than 10mm³/s (and as direct drive extruder). From another project i had a Pheatus Rapido and an Orbiter 2. As I converted my system already in a railed system I first looked at the mighty EVA Toolhead. But EVA is for top rails only which is very common in xy-core systems. So I decided to take the Rapido mounting/cooling system from EVA and build my own cage around this for front rail mounts. To make it stiff I decided to let it print/cut from aluminum at PCBWays. Orbiter 2+Rapido+Cage+Hotend_Rapido_EVA+Backplate =~360g. The enormous stiffness helps to print on point. Actual speed is 350mm/sec @ 2900mm/sec² accel. with Steppersonline Motors (2Amp/phase) and TMC5160 Stepperdrivers.Maybe someone could find it usefull for further modifications. Step files included. Use at your own risk!!!Parts:Backplate - Connects the MGN12 carrier with the HeadHousing and provides handles for the X-belts.HeadHousing - Is connected to the Backplate. It provides the mounting holes for the orbiter 2, the BL Touch and some more for future stuff. Most mounting holes have 2.7mm diameter to take a manually applied M3 thread for direct mounting. Hotend_Rapido_EVA - Connects fan and Rapido to a unit which is then installed inside the HeadHousing. This part is not from me, but from a snapshot of the mighty EVA Printhead project. It's just provided to complete this printhead as the EVA project is a very active project and parts might get changed in the future. It turned out that the M3 nuts fit perfectly with a part made out of plastic but made out of aluminum didn't fit. I used 2 component glue and drilled 2.5mm holes afterwards to apply M3 threads. Maybe future work:Partcooling fan. Lighter version without EVA Cooling Frame (Hotend_Rapido_EVA).
