CR10 Bed Leveling Mount for Nexi-Tech Fan Duct Mod

thingiverse

This mount is designed to attach a Harbor Freight Pittsburgh 1" Digital Indicator to the Creality CR-10 using Nexi-Tech's fan duct mod. The design was inspired by Skydesigne's mount, but this one is simpler and easier to print, albeit relatively flimsy. It seems sturdy enough for its purpose, though. You'll need a 1/4-20 or M6 nut and bolt to secure the indicator. Warning: This mount's bottom is lower than the nozzle tip. To level the bed properly, you'll need to raise the Z-axis by about 10 mm. Here's how I do it: 1. Adjust the front left-hand levelling knob to achieve the correct nozzle height using a sheet of paper or your preferred method. 2. Raise the Z-axis by 10 mm and attach the levelling mount. 3. De-energize the stepper motors. 4. With the probe touching the bed near the home position, zero the probe. 5. Manually move the hot end to the other three corners of the bed, turning each levelling knob to get a zero reading. If your bed is as sticky and backlash-prone as mine, wiggle the corners vertically while adjusting for best results. Using this method, I've achieved an impressive +/- 0.01 mm accuracy across all four corners, even with a warped original sheet of glass. The calibration process was surprisingly straightforward, thanks to my trusty 12-inch mirror tile from the local hardware store. Update: An .stl file has been added for printers without the fan duct mod.
