Please read this description before starting to print! Update April 27, 2020 Added Version C8.1 with an optimized rubber band holder (Thanks to Corona-Hub-Vaihingen!) Update April 18, 2020 Added a stack of two frames (Thanks to Phillip Stinner!) This is a clear development from our first version of the face shield (thing 4240579), which we set as the standard for Germany! The development was carried out in collaboration with the German Red Cross and has been accepted. What's changed since the first version: 1. The A4 foil is mounted in landscape format. 2. You can use a 4-hole punch to punch holes. 3. Massive material was saved by designing it with only the most necessary materials. 4. The temples along the forehead have been shortened to allow for more pieces on a pressure plate. 5. At least a DIN A4 foil with 0.3mm thickness is used as the film thickness. 6. On the inside of the forehead support, we use foam tape to further improve comfort. --- What materials did we use: We use the following sheets: https://www.falambi.de/einbanddeckel/din-a4/100-deckelfolien-din-a4-transparent-klar?number=25006 The rubber band on the backside is from: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01LZE7IEN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 We use this foam (Note: The manufacturer only delivers to commercial customers or for larger orders): https://www.illbruck.com/de_DE/produkt/tn553-isolier-und-vibrationsdaemmband-lr/ --- We print all the shields on our own 3D printers (CR-3D Type C1) with a build volume of 320x250x350mm. https://www.cr-3d.de/unsere-produkte/c-serie/ We highly recommend using PETG as filament, but PLA can also be used if no other is available. https://www.cr-3d.de/filamente/petg/ --- License and selling of face shields (same regulation as PRUSA -> Source PRUSA): We share these files under a non-commercial license. It would be great if you donated these shields to those in need for free. If you need to cover your production costs, we are okay with you selling the shields at production cost. However, we do not want to see these shields on eBay for €50. --- Thank you, Maggo, for your support and help with the design! --- Important: The design was based on PRUSA's, but I completely redesigned it and incorporated a few updates. I didn't have the initial idea for such a face shield; Josef PRUSA did, but I changed it in a few ways. For one thing, I closed the gap between the shield and the head with a base plate. I optimized the file regarding printing time by removing senseless openings and reducing height, which significantly reduced printing time. --- If you want to manufacture shields for others, PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY: Act as if you were infected by the COVID-19 virus. Wear a face mask and fresh gloves when collecting each batch of printed parts. Store the parts immediately in a sealable bag. Talk with whoever you're making the shields for; let them know about your manufacturing environment. There is still debate about how long the virus survives on plastic, but most sources mention 2-3 days. By letting the packed face shields sit for 2-3 days before distributing them, you'll greatly reduce the risk of transmission. Do not store the entire stock in one place; minimize the risk of cross-contamination. Source: Josef PRUSA --- License and selling of face shields: We share these files under a non-commercial license. It would be great if you donated these shields to those in need for free. If you need to cover your production costs, we are okay with you selling the shields at production cost. However, we do not want to see these shields on eBay for €50. Also, commercial 3D printers are allowed to print this file and can cover the production costs!
