CR-30 BondTech LGX Mount (Adjustable Angle)
thingiverse
I was getting ridiculously tired of not being able to get reliable bed adhesion on my CR-30. The only way I could get reliable adhesion was to either use a very specific .4 nozzle and lower the nozzle so close to the bed that it would create overextrusion problems in big prints. For all intents and purposes, the CR-30 was absolutely useless to us as a production machine. I tried sanding the belt, using isopropyl on it, and while it helped a bit, the biggest hold up seemed to be the geometry of the actual lines being printed on the bed. The 45 degree angle really messes with nozzles that have a flat lip around the tip, and renders a lot of higher flow nozzles like volcanoes and V6 nozzles useless as the shallower nozzle angle means the tip won't actually contact the belt. Couple all of this with the pretty low volumetric flow rate of the factory CR-30 hot end, and we had a printer that could only print slowly on a .4mm nozzle. No fun. So I set out on a mission to solve both the flow rate and adhesion problems in one swoop. Out of that, the BondTech LGX adjustable angle extruder mount was born. This mount allows you to mount a BondTech LGX shortcut with mosquito hot end to your CR-30. It replaces the factory hot end with a basic 90 degree mount. On the left panel are two channels spaced out to allow you to use m3 screws to mount the LGX on the side panel. Simply loosen the screws and rotate the LGX to adjust your angle, then lock them back down. This mount can still print at the factory 45 degree angle, which is best for surface details and clarity if you can get your adhesion right, but it also features 20 degrees of forward rotation, allowing you to adjust your print head to a 25 degree angle from horizontal. This angle creates MUCH better adhesion properties, and allows you to take full advantage of the cheaper v6 nozzles that are available for the mosquito without needing to buy specialized belt printer nozzles. The Mosquito hot end has very similar volumetric flow rates to a volcano in a much smaller and more compact format, so you can also reap the full benefits of a MUCH higher volumetric flow rate than the factory nozzle. I printed in Polymaker PA6-CF, but PETG should be fine. I didn't need support personally. Print standing upright.
