CR-10S/RaspberryPi3 case
thingiverse
I got tired of those two loud fans inside the original case and decided to design a new case with a single 120x15mm slim fan. I don't know if the older CR-10 board fits, but the new one with Mega2560 definitely does. Inside the case is also a mount for RaspberryPi 3 to run octopi, it sits on high poles to fit those printer cables under RaspberryPi's USB and network cables. NECESSARY MODS: 1. With this case you have to mount PSU externally, that one you have to figure out by yourself. Search PSU case, I found this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1745609 2. Also you should install some sort of rubber feet or adhesive tape, etc., because the case is sliding all over my table without some friction between them. 3. On the backside of 12864 board is a speaker, you have to desolder it and solder it to the front side. This makes the display case slimmer. 4. You need slim 120mm fan for the top part, I used Silverstone FW121: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=500 I shortened the cable to 5cm and soldered Noctua Low Noise Adapter wire to positive. It is still spinning too fast, so I will try some resistors to get it to lower RPM. Use FAN1-3 connectors on Melzi to power it, there are two extras now that were powering those original noisy case fans. 5. You will also might need a special USB-cable from RaspberryPi to S-Melzi. I made one myself, but ones on the market might just as well work. Updates 04.11.2017 Added pictures of working prototype, I'm redesigning it atm. Adding 10mm to height and widening 20mm, then there will be enough room to use a normal USB cord between Melzi and Raspberry. You can see the custom made one in place now. I'm also modding those vents, they don't print very good now. Making them more horizontal than vertical. New print will be ready by tomorrow, I'll upload new models then. 06.11.2017 New top part printing now, I added a mount for the display directly to part. Display case printing tomorrow. 07.11.2017 12864 case finished, assembled case added. 08.11.2017 I modified the top part with more robust display mount, it was too weak and tended to bend little when button was used. It also prints better now. Will add models and photos as I get print out. 13.11.2017 I smoothed some corners and decided that it is good enough for me. 24.12.2017 Added a few pictures of the new design. I'm no longer using this case, I'm designing a new case for Duet Wifi. It will mount vertically to CR-10S frame.
