CR-10S Filament guide system
thingiverse
Everything is press fit into the printed parts, including the 3/8" rod, 608 bearing, and filament roller guide. I used a 3/8" aluminum rod from Home Depot, but any metal or alloy rod will work just fine. The pulley fits snugly onto the rod, allowing you to adjust it for the perfect height so the extruder pulls filament at the ideal angle. For the spool holder above my printer, I employed the TUSH Ultimate design and cut a 2x4 piece of wood along with a piece of 3/4" plywood to secure it. Through the plywood, I drilled a 1/2" hole and press fit the filament roller guide into place. After using this system for some time now, it's working flawlessly - I'm consistently pulling my filament in straight (+/- 20 deg.) with minimal pull force. If you're printing something quite tall, I recommend securing the top of the 3/8" rod to prevent swaying at the top. I tied a string at the top of the rod to my pegboard so it can't be pulled towards the machine. Happy printing!
