CR-10S Dual Flexion Extruder-E3D V6
thingiverse
Flexion is one of the most advanced extruders available on the market today. Specifically designed to print very flexible filaments like TPUs, Cheetah, Ninjaflex, and even X60, it can also handle any other type of filament out there. I decided to design a dual extruder mount for my CR-10 as none existed, with only a couple of designs available but nothing specifically designed for a dual Flexion extruder setup. I purchased the dual setup using E3D V6 hot ends https://flexionextruder.com/shop/extruder-for-e3d-hotend/ and direct drive conversion so we could print flexible filaments effectively. I designed this mount to be easy to print and attach, very rigid and strong even when printed at 20% infill. You will need to decide on the orientation you require, and I used the tree support options in Cura. For the part fan shroud, you will need to use heat-resistant materials like PETG or ABS, but the rest can be PLA. Warning: This upgrade requires a dual control board upgrade and flashing new firmware along with some rewiring. Tested filaments to date: PLA (tested, works great!) COEX X60 Ultra-Flexible (works great) Final thoughts and considerations I've tested this bracket and it works very well. However, you need to keep several things in mind. Wire management needs to be implemented as the CR-10 was not designed for its extruder motor wire to move freely. If you are printing materials like X60 or other TPU-based materials, you should probably place the filament spool above the printer on a roller setup. You will need to upgrade the control board and there are many videos available on YouTube to help you along with that. If you are adding a BL Touch, please check YouTube as well. Finally, correct slicing settings must be dialed in for the new direct extruder. It will take some time to dial in settings so be patient.
