Cr-10 Y Carriage
thingiverse
This is a customized Cr-10 Y carriage that I designed to reduce weight significantly. The inspiration behind it came from the one created by Tiny Machines. First, this part needs to be machined out of 0.125-inch aluminum (or equivalent in metric - 3mm will work just fine). I used 6061 aluminum for this project, but I believe any other alloy would have achieved similar results. Printing this component is not an option unless you've discovered a filament that matches the stiffness of aluminum; if so, please share your findings with me. All of the hole sizes can be easily measured using your preferred CAM software (I used Mastercam for this project). If you want to make modifications, I recommend using the step file as my original design was a bit rough around the edges. After installing this modified carriage on my printer, I noticed significant improvements in print quality. While it's difficult to quantify how much of an improvement it made, one thing is certain: it didn't compromise print quality in any way. Happy making, NSD3D
