CR-10 Y-Axis Belt Tensioner

CR-10 Y-Axis Belt Tensioner

thingiverse

This is my custom-designed Y-Axis Belt Tensioner for the Creality CR-10 3D printer, replacing the standard 3D printed idler that secures the Y-axis in place on the machine.\nI drew inspiration from other belt tensioners available on Thingiverse, particularly idig3d's "Tronxy X3 x-belt tensioner" (Thing:2020468). The knob used here is sourced directly from idig3d, not a design of mine.\nYou will require one M5x25 bolt and a matching nut with a hex head recommended for secure fastening. \nUPDATE 03/13/17: I re-uploaded the STL files in a "ready to print" orientation.\nUPDATE 03/28/17: I have uploaded both STEP and Fusion360 archive files for those who wish to modify or build upon this design.\nPrint Settings\nPrinter:\n Creality CR-10\n \n Rafts:\n Not necessary\n \n Supports:\n Yes, recommended\n \n Resolution:\n 0.2 mm\n \n Infill:\n 35% minimum\n \n Notes:\n I used a 35% infill rate but lower settings should also work effectively.\nThe bracket can be printed in its default orientation, with or without supports depending on your printer's capabilities. If you're unsure about bridging, use supports for added security.\nPost-Printing\nTo assemble this design, first remove the existing 3D printed idler and its T nuts, which are no longer needed.\nNext, detach the belt from the pulley at the opposite end of the Y-axis to create more slack.\nInsert the M5 bolt into the puller until it's seated inside the cutout for the hex head, with the threads exposed outside. You may need to tap the M5 gently into place using a hammer and screwdriver.\nThen, secure the idler wheel and belt in place within the puller using the existing M4 bolt.\nSlip the bracket's T-slots onto the 2040's T-slots with the puller already seated inside the bracket.\nPush the M5 nut into its designated slot within idig3d's knob.\nFinally, reconnect the belt to the pulley at the Y-axis motor and secure the endcap onto the back of the bracket. Screw the knob into place using the M5 bolt.
