CR-10 Solid Bed Mounts Remix
thingiverse
After using solid bed mounts for a couple of weeks, I gave them a thorough inspection and noticed that they were bulging outward from the heat bed's intense heat. Since I had printed them with PETG, it's possible that nylon or ABS might have been a better choice, but ultimately, I suspect I would still have encountered the same problem. I searched for spacers on McMaster Carr and discovered 20mm long x 8mm diameter aluminum spacers designed to fit M4 bolts, which seemed like a more effective solution than relying solely on plastic. As it happened, I still needed to create a strain relief bracket, so I redesigned them to incorporate these spacers into the design. A bonus feature I added to the strain relief was some snap tabs on the cover and holes in the strain relief bracket to help keep the cover securely in place. To obtain the aluminum spacers from McMaster Carr, you'll need to order part number 94669A062 - a total of four pieces will be required. After printing them out, everything fits as expected, but I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to see if this new design has successfully resolved my issue.
