I used a gear-like feeder from Make Anything before, but I wasn't impressed with its design because it would always come loose and was hard to turn, so I decided to make one on my own. The part fits snugly onto the extruder stepper motor, allowing me to turn the motor and push filament through the extruder or load new filament easily. This requires two distinct speeds of turning, which is why I designed this small round component to spin quickly at top speed. The two arms or wings below are meant for slower turns. Supports like those shown in the picture are necessary; I used 2 perimeters and about 15% infill.
