I needed a cooling fan assembly that made it easy to switch between a volcano hotend for faster, stronger functional parts and a normal hotend for more intricate prints. At the same time, I wanted to upgrade the cooling of the hotend to reduce heat creep. I decided to mount the cooling fan facing backwards to minimize overall rotational pressure on the x carriage. These parts also integrate with my X axis cable chain (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2923095). The 80mm fan I use is an almost silent and reasonably priced Coolink SWiF2-801. The part cooling fan is a 40mm Noctua. You will need a longer Bowden tube for this to work, as the tube has to clear the top of the fan assembly. It may also reduce the maximum printing height for the machine by 50-100 mm. As I have never printed anything over 200mm high, it's not an issue for me, but it's worth mentioning here. You will also need one M5x50mm bolt plus nuts/bolts to mount the two fans. This is also a precursor to a dual extruder version I'm working on right now.
