Update 1-4-2018: I recently received a couple of requests for edits on this design, and I'm glad to finally have some time to review them. The files aren't yet tested since I'm now using my Ultimate Z box design, which is based on the original one. This project has four different versions: - Original Design: With markings and requiring the stepper to be tilted 90 degrees. - Original Design without CR10 Markings - New Larger Design that doesn't require the stepper to be tilted 90 degrees - New Design without CR-10 Markings Personally, I recommend the original design. It's smaller and uses less material. I understand this design is compatible with multiple Creality models, including a TEVO model. - All Creality CR-10 models - Ender 2 and 3 seem to work (haven't tested it yet) - Tevo Tornado; I'm not sure if it fits every version Original Instructions: Stepper dampers significantly reduce sound levels in 3D printers. A small disadvantage is that the flexible dampers can bend, resulting in a belt not running straight off the gear. A solution is to mount a second damper on the back of the NEMA17 stepper. For the Y axis, there are already several designs available on Thingiverse; I recommend Scolle_'s design. The bending problem is smaller on the X axis, but I wanted to fix this anyway. This design can easily be added to any CR-10 without removing too many parts. However, it does require turning the stepper 90 degrees so that the connector on the stepper can be reached. I'm considering editing the model to remove this if enough people request it. I'm also thinking about other mods like a filament guidance system. To me, however, this design is just a proof of concept since I'll be making a new one supporting a drag chain and connection box for hotend wires. At this point, I'm not sure when such a design will be finished. Important: I'm aware that stepper dampers are not all created equal; the thickness of the damper is essential to the design. I used dampers purchased on Aliexpress from seller Funssor, which are approximately 6mm thick excluding the center ring.
