CR-10 Direct Drive Filament Guide
thingiverse
These parts are assembled to form a filament guide specifically designed for the CR-10 with a direct drive extruder. I opt for the direct drive kits available at https://printermods.com, a upgrade that I highly appreciate over a Boden. However, I'm not thrilled about adding excessive weight to a moving carriage on an unsupported frame like the CR-10. Adding the weight of a spool is definitely out of the question. Most direct drive extruders are mounted from the top, so the filament requires either a guide tube or must be pulled from above. My spool remains on top of the control box but loops up and over this guide to be directed vertically downward into the direct drive. A standard skate bearing is inserted into the pulley, followed by the printed washer positioned on the bearing with its partially exposed side. This assembly is then inserted into the frame, with the washer facing the backside. A 3/8" bolt serves as the axle, secured in place by a lock washer or coupler.
