After observing my control box get scorching hot during extensive prints, I decided to thoroughly redesign a solution. I carefully opened up my control unit and discovered one of the fans had stopped working altogether. This cooler base replaces the base plate and contains two 120mm Noctua NF-P12 Redux fans. These are relatively inexpensive fans that can be easily found on Amazon. Dual fans are entirely optional. Preferring redundancy, I strongly advise using both fan slots and wiring these into the unit with a detachable wire connector for effortless removal. If using dual fans, ensure one blows upward and one downward. After running this setup for a bit on a lengthy print, I noticed the air coming out was surprisingly cool. At first, I thought this was a great sign. Then I realized I needed to seal the side vents on the control box with tape so that the air would flow properly (in through the side vent and out the front). I instantly felt a significant difference in temperature. I am now efficiently pulling the heat out.
