CR-10 120mm Fan Base
thingiverse
I recently encountered a problem with my CR-10 circuit board fan, which failed after approximately two months of use. In order to resolve the issue, I disassembled the unit and replaced the faulty fan, but during this process, I was disappointed by the machine's overall cooling performance, especially considering its prolonged daily operation. As an enthusiast in the maker community, I decided to address this problem using the same device that had caused it. To achieve this, I designed a custom part that would fit snugly onto the machine's print bed and house two 120mm fans with their mounting holes intact. The area for the three-wire cable was carefully notched out on the back of the design. In my specific setup, I utilized a small CPU power supply to energize the fans via a toggle switch. For optimal air circulation, I positioned the front fan to blow upwards and the rear fan to blow downwards through the unit. To effectively utilize this base design, it is necessary to remove the bottom plate of the machine. As a direct result, my CR-10 now experiences significantly improved cooling, which should lead to extended component lifespan. The STL files for these custom parts are available for download; if you require another file format, please let me know. I have access to Solidworks and can export files in nearly any type. Thank you, Johnny Mac
