CR-10/10S Bed Wire Guide & Spacer

I designed these spacers for my CR-10S that attach to the side rails at the rear and serve two critical functions. Firstly, they keep the printer away from the wall, preventing the clip's handles from hitting the wall when extended rearward, which could cause belt or servo slippage due to table movement. Secondly, and the main reason I created them, is to guide wires for the bed heater, ensuring they don't drop down below the rail when the table moves rearwards and then snag on the corner of the rail when moving forward again. I saw this happen and realized it's not good news... The rear vertical end cap slides into a slot in the spacer, securing it in place with a snug fit. To ensure a proper connection, relieve any flashing that might be present on both pieces' edges. There's also provision for an M3 Flat Head screw to hold the two parts together. The hole in the end cap is sized so that tapping it with an M3x0.5mm tap before assembly or using the screw itself to cut threads in the end cap's hole once assembled has been tried and proven successful. To prevent the clips from breaking off during installation, careful handling onto the printer's rails is essential. Tilt the spacer to one side and get the two clips on that same side into the middle opening of the rail, not all the way down or on. Then, carefully push down the other side, getting those remaining two clips into the middle opening of the rail on the opposite side. Next, line up the opening that fits over the rear cross rail and with one firm, solid motion, push the spacer down so the clips snap on, engaging the bottom edge of the rail. If a spacer needs to be removed, it can be done but patience is key. First, carefully pull on the inside two clips just enough to clear the rail and move them up into the rail's middle opening. Then do the same with the outer two clips. Finally, tilting the spacer, pull the two clips on one side out, up, and over the top of the rail.
