CPVC pipe Battery/Switch holder
thingiverse
My little girl wants to dress up as Audrey from Descendants 3 for Halloween, but I couldn't find any Maleficent staffs that fit her height or budget. She wanted one with lights that would get brighter when she cast spells like in the movie. So, I decided to make one myself. I designed this staff to fit inside a 1/2" CPVC pipe and use three AAA batteries. I used solid copper wire from an old thermostat to create the mating rings and added some "bumps" on the switch side to make it springy. For the pipe side hardware, I used solid core wire, but for the switch side, I used 24 AWG wire from an old ethernet cable to give me more flexibility. This project is a bit tricky to assemble, but once it's together, it works well. Be warned that once you superglue it, you'll have to start over if you make any mistakes, so make sure to check everything with a multimeter before making anything permanent. Here are the parts I used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32884289489.html These battery contacts needed to be cut to fit, but they worked well and gave me some wiggle room for error when gluing the threaded piece into the switch end. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32711341102.html I've included my FreeCAD files so you can edit them easily if you want. Just keep in mind that this is my first real design, so it might be a mess to someone who's good at designing things. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the parts before assembly - how was I supposed to know for sure it would work without putting it together?
