Cow Tooth
myminifactory
This cow tooth was discovered in a archaeological recovery at the Oak Hill plantation site (44PY440), a quarter reserved for enslaved servants. It was unearthed on November 15, 2015, in Room 2, Test Unit 2, Layer D, Feature 1 during an excavation. The tooth was then scanned three-dimensionally with a NextEngine Desktop 3-D scanner. Identified by Dr. Elizabeth Moore, it is now part of the Virginia Museum of Natural History's collection. The details of its discovery are documented in Moore, Elizabeth A.'s report, "Faunal Remains from 44PY0440, The Oak Hill Site," submitted to Hurt & Proffitt and the Threatened Sites Committee, Virginia Department of Historic Resources, in 2017.
