One of the problems presented was a shortage of N95 masks in hospitals, which were already being rationed. After some online searching, we found this open-source project: https://copper3d.com/hackthepandemic/ https://copper3d.com/pdf/Copper3D_Release2.pdf Pros for This Design: * Easy to ship flat * Flat design is easy to print * Two layers of filtration * Easy learning curve for thermoforming * Adjustable tension straps * Straps can be immersed in a sanitation bath Further Inspiration: Jeremy Simon of 3dUniverse.org made several good videos demonstrating, improving, and analyzing the masks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QmpnzBvXgk I also found an improved model with tapered flaps for melting/sealing that I liked very much: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4235063 To these, I added: * Expanded flat overlap/connector strips to allow for a better seal at the nose bridge and nose base. * Increased reinforcement ridge depth to help hold shape better during thermoforming. * Reinforced filter rings on mask (originally printed very weak on my printer, had some separation of the filter threads on one side.) * Updated filter caps and filter inserts * Mask attach points that do not perforate the mask, therefore pulling the sides in towards the face rather than slightly away. * Tensioner clips for easy tightening and release.
