Covid19 Faceshield Band for Dentists

Covid19 Faceshield Band for Dentists

thingiverse

This is a remix of a Swedish Shield design, reimagined by adding tabs on the sides to secure acetate firmly in place. The original remix was not created by me; it was someone else who added these features. To address an issue faced by dentists using magnifying loupes and lights mounted on their glasses, this latest remix sets back the inner band approximately 1.5 inches to increase space between the user's face and the shield's cover. Dentists often find that the original face shield does not have sufficient room for equipment placement when using magnifying loupes and lights attached to their glasses. A comparison of the two bands can be seen in a provided picture (original on the left, dentist band on the right). Our team of volunteers prints and assembles shields for donation in suburban Chicago using this very design. I altered it because it has been our go-to design for printing face shields. To better cover sides with acetate, consider adding panels to the sides and securing them with double-sided tape. This could be a helpful modification. I hope that this remix will help those looking to print face shields for dentists.
