Credit goes to all of the people who designed these and made them available, I'm just a facilitator. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me directly. I encountered numerous failures during this build before finally getting to a working mask, helping others avoid these time-consuming mistakes is definitely worthwhile. Included in this instruction are sources for the design and materials used in the construction. The mask being used comes from this source: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4245757 The head strap came from this source: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4225191 I removed the Hong Kong logos (no politics at hospitals), added a small curve to the top for comfort and reduced material usage. I recommend using the slicer to print multiple straps at once. The original design lacked interchangeable parts between Large and Medium masks, which is not ideal for mass production. I made some adjustments to allow for Large and Medium masks to use the same parts, and I recommend printing them in different colors to easily distinguish between sizes. The redesigned Medium Mask is usable but rough around the edges as I'm still a novice at 3D modeling software. Large size mask: fits most adult men Medium size mask: roughly 85% of the Large mask; fits most adult women Materials used: 3D Printer filament: PLA, PETG, and possibly ABS can be used. Keep in mind that the properties of these materials may result in prints shrinking as they cool down. The masks on this instruction were made with PLA. Microcenter seems to have the most affordable Inland filament currently available: https://www.microcenter.com/product/485638/inland-175mm-purple-pla-3d-printer-filament---1kg-spool-(22-lbs) Elastic band: For this build, I used ¼” elastic band. Similar to the one on this link: https://www.amazon.com/200-Yards-Length-Braided-Elastic-Stretch/dp/B086HQT1XL Shop around as there is rampant price gouging on these currently. For the Large mask, use two pieces of 35mm length cords. Adjust the length according to your needs; these seem to work best for me. For the Medium mask, use two pieces of 32mm length cords. Adjust the length according to your needs; these seem to work best for me. Make a double knot at the very end of each cord, then thread from front of mask to back and back of mask to front for the second loop, as seen in the picture. Then, double knot the end. Cutting the cord at an angle can help make this much easier. For the Medium mask, the loop can be small; something like a small screwdriver can help push the cord through. Filter media: Comprises two parts: The front-facing part of the filter is made from 3M Filtrete 1500, a furnace filter rated to filter viruses for up to three months. I don't recommend using these filters more than one week. I disassemble the filter and used the Mask Filter mesh as a template to cut out round filters for the mask. Wear gloves as the wire mesh holding the filter together can be sharp. The back-facing part of the filter are regular 2” round makeup removal pads readily available from Target: https://www.target.com/p/basic-cotton-rounds-100ct-up-38-up-8482/-/A-13699415 Once we have both pieces available, stack them together and put a small dab of hot glue in the middle, between the two filters. Then press down with your finger right over the hot glue to push the two pieces together. We only use a small bit of hot glue as the Filter Cover presses down on the outside edge of the Filter media to seal it. Mask gasket: Just a simple 3/8” wide x 3/16” thick weather seal strip from Home Depot. The ends seal much tighter if we cut them at an angle. It's difficult to put a length measurement recommendation for it as it is a stretchy material and the length varies depending on how you apply it to the inside of the mask. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King-3-8-in-x-3-16-in-x-17-ft-Grey-Vinyl-Foam-Weatherseal-Tape-V443H/100205904
