COVID Face Mask with simple Snap on or Rubber Band Filter

thingiverse

This is a fusion of my snap-on filter and a full-face mask. To seal properly, a sealer material will need to be applied around the face mask. As always, this design has not been officially tested or approved for medical use. The clip design allows different thicknesses of materials to be used without modification. The clip can potentially be omitted with good rubber banding of a filter media. Our top candidate for filter material are HEPA vacuum bags and a sterilization wrap fabric called HALYARD H600, which may be readily available in hospitals. I have no way to test these materials, and I would greatly appreciate guidance from someone who can provide input here. Here is a video demonstrating how to attach a filter: https://youtu.be/7R3c6xa5Yk8 This design must be printed in PET or ABS. All my prototypes have been made with PET. The fingers need more flexibility than I believe PLA can provide. Currently, I print my prototypes with 3 shells and solid infill. My settings are .6mm extrusion width and .3mm layer height.
