This design was created as an independent module comprising parts that are readily manufactured or sourced from external suppliers. Our module was engineered around the characteristics of a breathing bag in order to utilize its established specifications and qualities to provide the patient with the essential respiratory assistance. Specifically, the breathing bag will deliver precise volume control and a pressure relief system. A pneumatic actuator was selected as the driving mechanism to compress the breathing bag. As the breathing bag is compressed at an optimal rate, it will supply the patient with the correct tidal volume. The overall framework of the assembly also leaves ample space at the top for additional required components that could be integrated, such as a compressor, power source, and other electronic controls.
