COVID-19 plague stick and hook anti-touch thingy
thingiverse
So with the new plague in our midst, and only two keypads + elevator to gain access to my flat, I decided to dust off my 3d printer and create something basic yet functional. The idea is straightforward: a nubbin for pressing elevator buttons and similar tasks on one end, and a hook for opening doors, drawers, or other containers on the other. Alternatively, if you mirror it in your main hand so that the hook faces away from your palm, it makes a great handle. In the images, you can see the plague stick with a ripe banana next to it for scale. It actually has a very satisfying pop once you open the lid. I used a 3mm diameter bamboo skewer as the hinge. Once printed, the part of the main body where the latch comes down needs a pass with a file so that it doesn't catch on individual layers (at least with my layer thickness, it was catching quite a bit).
